Malapatan came from two B'laan words which means mala-(pepper) and fatan-(place). Long ago, this place abounds with plenty of pepper - sizzling hot pepper, reason for coining the words to what it is called today. The B'laans were believed to have settled in the place long before the Maguindanaons came, then after, the Settlers arrived. Today, it is known for the peaceful co-existence of the tri-people community, not only from among the municipalities surrounding the Sarangani Bay, but for the whole Region 12, if i may say so.

Experience Malapatan will be your online dictionary about this municipality located in the outskirts of General Santos City. 

It is about an hour's drive away from General Santos City by public transport, either by van going to Glan, or jeepney. Travel time is only about 30 minutes by private vehicle.
